Top view of the connected domes that compose the structure of Alvernia studios.

The Alvernia Studios, located a few kilometers west of Krakow, are a perfect fusion between leading technology and  futuristic engineering. Born from an idea by Stanislaw Tyczynski, an entrepreneur who founded RMF FM, the first commercial radio station in Poland, are the pride of the Polish movie production and beyond. There are numerous international collaborations with filmmakers of the highest caliber, even Hollywood has turned to the Alvernia Studios for the creation of new cinema productions, a recent movie starring Sigourney Weaver and a Nicholas Jarecki’s financial thriller Arbitrage, starring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon and Tim Roth. Alvernia will handle all post-production.
The studios are spread over an area of 6,300 m2 and are the first and only set of film production, post production and audio recording of the highest level in Poland and even in Europe. For their realization in 2010 were invested more than $ 200 million. The structures are enormous, with the world’s biggest spherical, shadeless blue screens, the great domes of the complex could easily contain a handful of houses and a small church. The design of the structure was performed to reproduce the locations of the series “Alien” giving Alvernia a unique and unusual sci-fi feel. The 13 pods are connected by tubes of glass, sliding doors open by finger sensors and the interiors exactly replicate the same atmosphere of the alien spacecraft.
