The Mae Tao clinic is a proper hospital, financed by donations which come from all over the world. There are gynaecology, obstetric and medical wards. 
A place where children are born but also a place to come and be healed after your body has been mutilated by a mine. Two hundred artificial limbs a year; 
in the border area the number of victims annually is said to be between 600 and 1,500. As well as accidents caused by the lack of a programme for mine clearance, the mutilations and deaths are the result of a tragic usage the military have started: prisoners are forced to go before military marches 
to act as human mine detectors.
