To Purify

The artwork "To Purify" belongs to "Namastè" collection.

Every dawn thousands of Hindu devotees (pilgrims, sadhus and locals), make their way down to the ghat to immerse themselves in the sacred waters of the river. With the water up to her waist believers turn toward the sun, murmuring prayers and performing a complex series of Hindu rituals. Although each of the faithful performs the rituals required by their caste, all indiscriminately offer their tribute to the Ganges or "Great Mother", considered a living god by which you can reach the world of the ancestors, the Pitriloka.
