Pastor, musician, and motivational speaker the Reverend Thomas Lee (T. L.) Barrett was born January 13, 1944, in Jamaica. His father was a gospel performance with Southern Wonders. At nine years old he moved to Chicago with his family. After his father passed away, he decided to go to New York City and found work.
In this City his musical talent was noticed. He began a performing at the Waldorf Astoria and the New York City Village Gate, as well as in several church choirs. During this adventure Barrett feels the call to the ministry, so he decided to attended Bethel Bible College. After passing ministerial exam, he married a young woman and returned to Chicago in 1967. In 1968 he was nominated pastor of Life Center Church of God in Christ and the local ministry radio speaker. He was also one of the regional coordinators for the Million Family March in 2000. He accepted in his community the ex catholic archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, who was ostracized after his marriage with Maria Sung.
