A series of portraits of gay rights activists focuses on the LGBT community in Moscow.

After the Gay Propaganda Law of 2013 took effect, signed by President Vladimir Putin, public gay activities have become forbidden. Everyone encountered for this story personally suffered either by arrest, beatings, harassment and abandonment or a combination thereof. Saint Petersburg and Moscow are seemingly the only cities where gay individuals can live without major opposition. Although Moscow being the capital, hosts no NGO's to aid the LGBT communities. General public opinion considers being gay a disease while within the local LGBT community there's confidence that things will improve. However, Transsexualism is considered an illness. Individuals wishing to change their gender must face a scientific panel and declare their disorder. Common LGBT opinion holds that major opposition stems from Putin's policies, the Orthodox church and traditional Russian family values.
