The 2010 Haiti earthquake was the worst disaster in that region during the last 200 years. The Red Cross estimated that about three million people were affected by the quake and probably more than 120.000 died, this is only an estimate. Only days after the devastating earthquake there were numerous mass burials and bodies set afire in the streets. The exact number will never be known. Haiti remained relatively calm, contrary to what many had expected, but looting claimed even more victims than the quake. Two weeks later, Port au Prince was still cut off from electricity and drinking water was in short supply. Haiti's infrastructure which was already delicate prior to the disaster was a major obstacle for International NGOs which struggled everyday to bring aid to the affected area.
