Photograph of one of the most important religious and archeological sites in Southeast Asia, since 1991 Heritage: Prambanan.
The picturesque plain that you welcome the Hindu temple is accentuated during the hours of sunset, giving the architectural structures and devotional mystical aura unprecedented. The vertical thrust of the temple and the inner square decorations, 62 relief images of the Ramayana Ballet, are the representation of a close dialogue of past and present populations with Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu.
Prambanan is a 9th-century Hindu temple compound in Central Java (Indonesia) dedicated to the Trimurti, the expression of God as the Creator (Brahma), the Preserver (Vishnu) and the Destroyer (Shiva).
The temple compound is located at North East of the city of Yogyakarta on the boundary between Central Java and Yogyakarta provinces.
The temple compound, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the largest Hindu temple site in Indonesia, and one of the biggest in Southeast Asia.
It is acterized by its tall and pointed architecture, typical of Hindu temple architecture.
