Eggs Basket with ears of corn

Basket of eggs with ears of corn seems a particular one of the masterpieces by Georges de La Tour, went down in art history for his paintings by candlelight.

As the great painter of Lorraine, Manolo Tatti uses the double source of light to emphasize the eggs (a symbol of rebirth and fertility) enclosed in wicker basket on axis with the natural light coming through the window at the top left and the artificial source.

The paraffin lamp seems to be suspended in the vacuum of a black background. This contrived ploy was deliberately sought by the photographer to remove the concept of vanitas inexorably tied to the passage of time.
