Genoa XIX sec., Doria Palace garden picture. The Prince Doria’s Villa was built in the 1529 when the prince, legendary admiral, wanted a peaceful place where to stay after his numerous journeys. In this retro picture it’s possible to see Neptune Fountain, the central part of the garden. Giovanni Andrea I Doria asked to Taddeo Carlone to sculpt the fountain. In the middle the sculptor put Neptune, god of freshwater and the sea, which was driving chariot pulled by seahorses. The tank is decorated by eagles tightening among snakes claws and sea monsters.
