XIX sec., Piazza Nettuno Bologna retro picture. The square is named by the symbol of the city: Neptune fountain. It was built in 1563 by architect Thomas Laureti, while the sculptural part by Giambologna. At the center of the basin there is the greek god of the seas Neptune with his trident rules the seas. In front of the fountain  was built Accursio Palace or Palazzo Comunale with the characteristic clock tower, here hidden by scaffolding.
