This retro picture of 30s presents one of the holiest temples of ancient Greece, the Erechtheion. The construction of this building dates back to 406 BC. The Erechtheion shape is rather unusual. Probably its asymmetrical plan is due to the orography of the Acropolis hill. In this photograph  is visible the eastern part which is dedicated  to Athena. The four Ionic columns with tapered drums lead the eye to the right, to the south, where they were placed the six amazing caryatids that decorated the small loggia of the sanctuary. The monumental entrance tetrastyle Pseudoperipteral ion is emphasized by the man on the stairs whose ceremonial dress contrasts with the men behind dressed with pants and t-shirts.
