Hagia Sophia

Hagia Sophia mosque vintage picture. The image depicts the frontage of the ancient Byzantine basilica built by Justinian in 537. With the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottoman army the basilica was converted into a mosque. They were added to the Justinian project minarets, mausoleums, fountains and beautiful mosaic work. If the interior is distinguished by the decorative splendor calligraphic and plant, the outside is opposed to the heaviness of the buttresses that support the momentum of the minarets and the domes protruding thrusts.
